Slumdog Millionaire is this year’s breakout independant film hit. It even won the Academy Award for Best Picture, which is really saying a lot. Many people would agree that Slumdog Millionaire is the best film of the year. Of course, you could argue the same about The Dark Knight, but a comic book film isn’t allowed to win such high prestige. Regardless, Slumdog Millionaire is a big hit and is the first chance that a Bollywood style film can hit it big in the United States.
Slumdog Millionaire tells the tale of Jamal, a young man who goes on to Who Wants To Be a Millionaire to hopefully strike it rich and in the process regain his lost love. He is accused of cheating and spends the night recounting his life to the police. In the process he explains how he was able to know the answers. In the end it all comes down to the one final question for one million dollars.
