"this is a pretty nice laptop, especially for the price. Battery seems to be as advertised although to get the full 9 hours you would or should not run a lot of things such as wireless, media players, etc. I expect a solid 7hours with normal use which is still an awesome battery life. Coming from a 7 year old toshiba this is loads lighter and just as good or better in performance. I have no need for a more powerful laptop so this suits me and probably a lot of other people perfectly. The keyboard was a big selling point to me as I do a lot of writing. The spaces between the keys make a huge difference and the keyboard is whisper quiet. I have fat stubby fingers and there is no problem for me with typing. Bluetooth is a neat feature that I haven't seen on any other netbooks in this price range. In general this is a great netbook and definately a benchmark for all others out there at this time. Two small things, and this is nitpicking, is that I would have liked to get it in white (the 1000ha is in white) and I really prefer xp pro to home which is what comes preinstalled. "First, I should mention that before turning the Asus 1000HE on I upgraded the ram from 1 to 2 GB. It took a screwdriver and no longer than five minutes. (There are two small screws holding the bottom faceplate on. Then just turn the computer on after putting the ram in. There's no need to even go into the bios.) The multi-touch pad can be configured to work beautifully to do what is expected and nothing else. And it isn't difficult to share a DVD rom drive from a computer on your home network. Presto, you can install and run anything you want at home. There's no need to purchase an external drive. After working with this computer for over a week, my expectations continue to be exceeded, mostly.

So I asked a buddy of mine how long his Macbook could run off a battery when it was brand new. About 4 four hours? Really. Hey! Happy with that Macbook Air? How long does that run on battery? How much did that cost again? The Asus 1000HE does everything I want a portable PC to do and for a very long time on battery. It does just about everything fast and well. Looking for a gaming laptop?
