Sometimes It Pays To Not Shop Online

This is going sound entirely counterintuitive to the new world of online shopping, but you know, sometimes it really does pay to NOT buy something online. Now, I know you’re going to say something like, that doesn’t make any sense. Online is faster, easier, cheaper, and so on and most of the time I would agree with you. However, in this instance, I will disagree and explain why.

Recently I was going to purchase the latest World of Warcraft expansion and just do the whole thing online through Blizzard’s website. Normally these things work very smoothly, but for whatever reason it just didn’t work out properly. It didn’t like my credit card, any of my credit cards. I think it was a glitch in their system probably, but they wanted me to call them to verify the information or something. I figured I would just try again later.

I waited until the next day and still the same problem. Ok, I give up I will buy it in stores I guess. It annoys me, but I’ll deal wih the sillyness a bit. So, I start seeing where I can get the best deal and I check the usual suspects – Amazon, Best Buy, and even Wal-Mart.com. That’s when I saw someing awesome.

THE GAME IS ON SALE RIGHT NOW!!!!

And, it’s not just on Amazon either. Wal-Mart and Best Buy are all $30.00 give or take a buck or two. Blizzard direct wanted me to pay $40, which would have been fine, but I can go to my local Best Buy or Walmart, so why not right?

Long story short. I am going to save money and buy it locally. Usually I’m all for saving money by buying online, but in this case, buying in a brick and mortar store was a much better way to go.
