Surfing eBay is a great way to find a lot of very interesting little bits of either pop culture or a more underground current of ideas and desires. One of those more underground movements is the homebrew biodiesel movement. Apparently there is a thriving cottage industry of people selling how-to guides and equipment for manufacturing your own biodiesel yourself.
The reason biodiesel has gained in popularity is that it has the potential to be a cheap alternative fuel. You can make biodiesel from waste vegetable oil found at nearly every restaurant in America. Because of that, the fuel itself is relatively cheap to produce from the waste vegetable oil.
